Tired of temporary results?

Where do you go when you feel like you’ve tried everything and exhausted all your options? What if there was a gentle, easy, and effective way of treating the body that is as old as mankind, but largely forgotten in healthcare? The John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach™ is a hands-on treatment that can be applied anywhere in the body to address tightness, tension, pain and other symptoms. It makes sense, it’s safe, and doesn’t involve machines, drugs, creams, oils or exercises.

The American Back Society credits physiotherapist, John F. Barnes, with one of the most important advances in healthcare in the last century for his understanding of the fascial system, muscle memory and chronic pain. Over 100,000 health professionals in the USA treat millions of patients annually and two of Australia’s most highly-qualified practitioners are now in Perth. The John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach™ is different to most other forms of treatment and may be the key to unlock your body’s natural healing potential.

The John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach™ fills in the gaps between physiotherapy, chiropractic, and massage. These modalities (and all other forms of ‘myofascial release’) address the muscles and bones which comprise approximately 20% of our tissue. Due to the elastic nature of muscles, the results usually only last until the tissue springs back – from a couple of hours to a couple of days. To create lasting change, one must also release the other 80%, the connective tissue. Unlike muscles which respond quickly to stretch or manipulation, the connective tissue requires 5-7 minutes of gentle, sustained pressure in order to release. The John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach™ is the only form of therapy known to address all elements of the connective tissue and the results speak for themselves. Listen to John speak about how he developed this approach in this video:

Discover your body’s natural self-corrective mechanism that can unwind tension, reset muscle memory effects and restore your body to a calm, relaxed and fluid state. By contrast, all other forms of therapy involve the practitioner ‘doing’ something to your body in an attempt to make it conform to an ideal – sometimes by force. These modalities are mostly too quick or linear which actively shuts down any healing potential. The reason the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach™ can achieve such amazing results is that it is following your body and drawing out your natural healing response. The body knows how to be pain-free, relaxed and supple – all it requires is a little time and space in the proper environment. We didn’t design this system, we just know how to work with the body, not against it, and how to elicit the person’s own energy and awareness so that the results are theirs to keep.

The ‘fascia’ phenomenon

In recent years some of the world’s leading biochemists, physiologists, systems theorists and consciousness researchers have turned their attention to this mysterious substance known as fascia. Often the terms connective tissue or soft tissue are used interchangeably for fascia but this is somewhat misleading as they would imply a fibre- or muscle-type material when actually, fascia is primarily a fluid gel. To understand fascia, we have to understand a 4th state of matter in between solid and liquid and also the behaviour of liquid crystals. While this may sound theoretical, this is our day-to-day experience. ‘Knots’ or ‘gristle’ in our tissue were once a fluid and flexible material, and applying the principles of true myofascial release will enable these areas to return to their natural, more liquid state. The power of the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach™ is understanding the fascial system – the largest system of the body – and how to treat it most effectively. This video, an excerpt from the work of Dr Jean-Claude Guimberteau shows living fascia in high detail:

Ready to experience your body’s natural self-correction response?

When you’re open to a different approach, we’re here to remind your body of a pain-free and active lifestyle. If you’ve been told “…it’s all in your head”, or that there is nothing else that can be done, we may have the solution your body needs. (Interestingly, fascia does not appear on any standard tests like CT scans, MRI’s or X-rays, leading to the frustration of finding no apparent cause for even the most severe symptoms. Many times, these symptoms are caused by fascial restrictions.) We believe pain is a messenger, not to be “managed”, “masked” or “minimised”. Given specialised attention, pain and tightness can be resolved at the source – gently and easily.
